Evidences for Global Warming
Sea level rise
Global sea levels rose about 17cm in the last century. The rate in the last decade, however, is nearly double that of the last century
Global temperature rise
All three major gloabl surface temperature reconstructions illustrate that the Earth has warmed since 1880
Warming oceans
The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 mentres of ocean showing a warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969
Shrinking ice sheets
The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Greenland lost 150-250 cubic kilometres of ice per year between 2002 and 2006. In Antarctica lost approximately 152 cubic kilometres of ice between 2002 and 2005
Glacial retreat
Glaciers are retreatinig almost everywhere across the world- including the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Alaska, Rockies and Africa

Declining Arctic sea ice
Both the extent and thickness of Arctic sea ice has declined rapidly over the last several decades
Extreme events
The number of record high temperature events in Australia has been increasing, while the number of record low temperatures has been decreasings since 1950. Australia has also witnessed increasoing numbers of intense rainfall occurences
Ocean Acidification
The acidity of the ocean waters has increaed by about 30%
Decreased snow cover
Satellite observations reveal that the amount of spring snow cover is the Northern Hemisphere has decreased over the past five decades and that the snow is melting earlier
